Did Hayek read Ayn Rand? I never knew that..

Sudha,

I cannot remember where I saw it, but I recently read an account of Hayek having read Rand and being broadly appreciative of what she was doing. I swear it was in Doherty's book on the history of libertarianism, but I just took a quick look and can't find it there. Might have been in Hulsmann's book on Mises, but I can't find it there either. If any of my co-bloggers or our commentariat can find it, I could use the help!

Of course Rand thought Hayek was more or less a socialist...

Hayek praises Rand's novels in his essay, "Capitalism and the Historians". But Hayek negatively reviewed, as editorial board adviser of the New Individualist Review, the manuscript of "For A New Intellectual" according to Chris Matthew Sciabarra's Introduction to the "Ayn Rand Among the Austrians" symposium in The Journal of Ayn Rand Studies (spring 2005).
